Week of the Italian Language in the World – XVIII Edition

On October 15-21 Baku will host the 18th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World.
The Week of the Italian Language in the World is an event promoted yearly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy in the third week of October. The initiative was launched in 2001 through the joint action of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Accademia della Crusca, which was subsequently joined by the Swiss Confederation, where Italian is one of the country’s official languages.
This success story is due to the growing engagement of the Italian and Italian-speaking communities abroad, along with local cultural institutions. A host of writers, poets, artists, teachers and academics has passionately enlivened all the past editions by taking part in hundreds of conferences, meetings, lectures, refresher courses all over the world, thus opening a cultural and intercultural dialogue with other writers, artists, intellectuals and representatives of civil society in a large number of Countries. Since 2013, the theme of the Week has dealt with the world of business and culture, highlighting the link between language and creativity.

2018: 18th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World
The 18th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, scheduled to take place from 15 to 21 October 2018, will focus on the topic: “Italian and the web, social networks for the Italian Language”. This is a highly topical subject, and will delve into the interactions and influences between the Italian language, the Net, new information technologies and social communications, including social platforms.

Roundtable: Traveling in the days of network … to Italy !!!
Azerbaijani travel bloggers toghether with Italian travel expert will widely discuss with the university students how the travel process has changed with the influence of internet and social network and how it affects also to the travel in Italy.

October 19, 2018 – 10.00
Azerbaijan University of Languages
Azerbaijani and Italian professors will present and discuss how in the modern globalization world internet and social networks impact on the Italian Language.

Italian film show: La Scomparsa di Patò (Pato’s disappearance)
The 105-minute Italian film reflects the events of the late nineteenth century.
Based on the historical novel by Andrea Camilleri, The Vanishing of Patò is set in Vigàta, the town that Detective Montalbano fans know and love…but it’s 1890, Easter weekend. Two rival investigators look into the disappearance of Antonio Patò, a quiet accountant who vanishes after his performance as Judas in the town’s annual Passion Play.
