Born in 1971, he holds a degree in Political Science at Bologna University.

A career diplomat since 1998, in his first three years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he followed bilateral cooperation projects with Balkan countries, in the wake of the Yugoslav wars.

In 2001 he started his first posting abroad, in Mozambique, where he stayed until 2005. He was subsequently assigned to the Italian Permanent Mission to the International Organizations in Geneva where, for four years, he followed WTO negotiations and delved into global economic and financial dynamics.

Upon his return to Rome in 2009, he took service in the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, where he stayed for four years.

In April 2013 he was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Beijing as First Counselor and Head of the Economic and Commercial Office. In August 2015 he became the Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission.

He is Ambassador of Italy in Baku starting from August 10, 2017.

He is married with Silvia, with whom he has four children.

He speaks English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and has a knowledge of Swedish and Mandarin. He loves sports and literature.
