Call for Applications: I ACT Peer Educators (IRENA)

Call-for-Applications-I-ACT-Peer-Educators-1

The call for applications of peer educators for the second edition of the Italy-IRENA Action for Climate Toolkit (I ACT) training programme is now open.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), to build the capacity of young people on climate and energy issues. The initiative leverages the power of peer-to-peer learning to spread knowledge on the challenges and solutions for a sustainable future.

The I ACT initiative empowers young climate leaders by giving them the tools and training they need to educate others in their communities on key issues related to climate change, energy and development, through a training-of-trainers approach.

The programme makes use of a formation Toolkit developed by IRENA with sponsorship by MAECI, which includes presentation materials, facilitator guidebooks and workshop activities covering six modules on key topics. The Toolkit was available in English, French, and Spanish.

The first round of I ACT has proven to be a resounding success. 161 young activists were selected and directly trained by IRENA and later delivered in-person workshops in 42 countries as peer educators, using the Toolkit to share the knowledge thus acquired with their own communities. Most of these events were organised in collaboration with Italian Embassies around the world. In total, more than 6.000 youth were reached by the I ACT workshops.

The second edition aims at reaching even more young people and countries through an updated Toolkit, now available in two additional languages (Portuguese and Arabic).

Selected Peer Educators will participate in a first row of online training by IRENA in May. Dedicated formation events will be later organised in the second half of 2025 with the support of the Italian Embassies’ network.
